Coming to us from Don Fermin Colunche and his family, this Peru coffee is delicious! Like most coffees from this region near San Pedro, Cajamarca in northern Peru—at elevations 1500 meters above sea level—this lot is washed for a clean flavor profile.

Don Fermin is a pioneer in using soil analysis to understand what organic materials and nutrients must be added to fertilizers to maintain a healthy farm and produce outstanding coffees—he loves to share this knowledge with other producers. The Colunche family is also known for their hospitality, sharing their homegrown fruits, vegetables, baked bread, and beekeeping with their community!

Don Fermin is also one of the first members of Cooperative Agraria Frontera San Ignacio (COOPAFSI), a cooperative we’ve been purchasing coffees from since 2016. Their community lots are full of caramelized sugar notes and baking spices with just the right amount of acidity to keep the cup lively — these larger group lots are perfect for our organic blends.

This micro lot from the Colunche family, on the other hand, stands out with more pronounced fruit tones and acidity. This year's arrival blew us away, the best we have tasted from them before. In the cup, we are enjoying notes of plum, panela, red grape, and milk chocolate.

We’re thrilled to have it here this spring and hope you like it as much as we do!
