What’s in the Box: Ernedis Rodriguez and Evaristo Neyra

Ernedis Rodriguez

Ernedis Rodriguez

We’re welcoming in April and the spring season with another month of delicious and fresh coffee! This month’s box has two recent favorites of ours—Ernedis Rodriguez washed from Colombia and Evaristo Neyra washed from Peru—that will give your taste buds a real treat.

If you’ve been keeping up with our coffee releases, you’ll notice that this is our third release of one of Ernedis Rodriguez’s coffees this year. This one is a classic, washed Caturra packed with sweetness and clarity that was shipped to us in early 2021, brimming with bright notes of blood orange, acai berry, and brown sugar sweetness. Like the other coffees, it comes from his farm Finca El Paraiso in Huila, Colombia, a truly picturesque finca nestled high up on a mountain ridge, with steep slopes overlooking the beautiful Magdalena River Valley. Ernedis intends to keep his farm true to its name (a paradise!), so he is constantly finding ways to farm and process his coffee in a way that’s harmonious with nature. He is a true visionary when it comes to coffee!

Next up, we have Evaristo Neyra from Peru, a coffee with sweet notes of brown sugar, walnut, butter, and apple that reminds us of pie. On his farm El Guayaquil, Evaristo grows Pache and Caturra varieties at 1850 meters above sea level, then pulps and ferments the coffee before washing and drying it on raised African beds. Last year we tasted some coffees from Evaristo’s group, Alpes Andinos in San Ignacio. After tasting the crisp, clean flavors, we couldn’t resist and made sure to snag a micro-lot from them this year.

We hope you enjoy this month’s coffee—comment and let us know your favorite! Check out our coffee subscriptions here.
